About This Program
The Health & Wellness Coaching minor offers the basic skills and knowledge consistent with a career or interest in health and wellness coaching. A health/wellness coach is a supportive mentor who helps others feel their best through lifestyle changes that meet their unique needs. The minor coursework includes classroom learning as well as practical skill development through client coaching. You learn how to set goals and develop plans of action to work towards the clients’ desired outcomes.
Program Highlights
- You can select electives of interest such as exercise adherence, cross-cultural psychology, and human behavior in social environments
- Faculty have expertise in exercise science and public health, are certified health and wellness coaches with experience, and have additional health and wellness certifications
- Faculty have a broad range of complementary research interests, including international cross-cultural learning
(e.g., COIL), mental health, peer to peer coaching, and the use of motivational interviewing techniques
Potential Careers
EHealth and wellness coaching pairs well with many careers such as allied health professionals, psychologists, social workers, chiropractors, nutritionists, and more. You can also seek further certification through one of the certifying bodies such as Wellcoaches, or the Mayo Clinic Wellness Coaching Program. Further licensure is available through the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching if you meet their training requirements.
Scholarships
Current students in CEHSP may be eligible for both merit-based and need-based scholarships. More than 100 scholarships are available each academic year.
