About This Program
Do you want to understand people and help solve their problems? Are you an empathetic listener and strong communicator? Would you like to make a direct impact on a company’s revenues and brand visibility? If so, the Marketing major may be a great fit for you. This program teaches you how to identify consumer needs and deliver value through effective marketing strategies. You’ll gain hands-on experience by working on real-world projects, networking with professionals, and participating in marketing-focused clubs and competitions. Many Marketing majors also complete paid internships during their academic career.
Program Highlights
- Work collaboratively with marketing and creative teams to design and implement campaigns for products and services
- Learn the 4 Ps of Marketing—Product, Price, Place, and Promotion—and how each influences consumer behavior

- Sustainability in Scandinavia study abroad program, taking students to Norway, Denmark, and Sweden to explore sustainable business practices
- The Marketing B.B.A. is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
Research & Experiential Learning
- Participation in the American Marketing Association (AMA) at UMD, with opportunities to compete in regional and national competitions
- Visits to professional sports organizations like the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Wild as part of coursework in Sports Marketing

Student Internships
LSBE offers a structured in-house internship program led by a full-time director who manages over 200 internships annually. The director works closely with both you and employers to ensure valuable, hands-on experience.
Marketing majors often intern at top companies like 3M, Cintas, Google, Hormel, Fastenal, Land O’Lakes, Target, and others—as well as Duluth-based or remote options during the school year.
