About This Program
The Teaching Physical Science program prepares you to teach science both inside and outside the classroom, integrating environmental education into formal and non-formal learning settings such as parks, nature centers, and outdoor education programs. Located in the heart of northern Minnesota, the program provides opportunities to learn in diverse natural environments and apply science to real-world experiences.
This Bachelor of Applied (B.A.Sc.) degree prepares you for licensure in Teaching Chemistry (grades 9-12) or Teaching Physics (grades 9-12). You choose your preferred emphasis of chemistry or physics. Coursework is offered by the Department of Education with the Department of Chemistry or Physics. You have the option of concurrently working toward General Science (grades 5-8) licensure.
Program Highlights
- Graduates are eligible for Minnesota licensure in Teaching Physics (grades 9–12) or Teaching Chemistry (grades 9-12), with the option of adding a General Science (grades 5–8) license
- Graduates are highly sought after for their strong preparation in science content, teaching practice, and educational technology
- The program includes focused coursework on teaching with and about American Indian communities, along with an emphasis on diversity in American education and strategies for working with all learners
- Courses are rooted in current best practices and prepare you to help students explore and understand the world through inquiry and exploration-based instruction

Scholarships
Current students in CEHSP may be eligible for both merit-based and need-based scholarships. More than 100 scholarships are available each academic year
