About This Program

The Accounting minor is valuable if you want to understand the accounting process and its applications in modern society. The minor offers training for entry into positions in government, industry, and social service organizations that require an understanding of accounting, but not the depth provided by the B.Acc. degree program.

Research & Experiential Learning

  • LSBE Company Days, where you engage directly with visiting industry professionals
  • The Student Professional Engagement Program (PEP), which exposes you to co-curricular content and soft skills development
  • A variety of business-related student clubs open to all LSBE majors

Student Internships

LSBE offers an in-house internship program led by a dedicated director who oversees more than 200 internships annually. The director works with both you and employers to ensure valuable, real-world experiences.

Students regularly secure internships at top companies, including: 3M, Cintas, Google, Hormel, Fastenal, Land O’Lakes, Minnesota Vikings, Target, UnitedHealth Group, Sherwin-Williams, Taylor Corporation, and SPS Commerce—as well as school-year and remote internships in the Duluth area.

Potential Careers

Graduates will use accounting information to analyze a business’s financial health and provide recommendations based on sound, ethical reasoning. You’ll also be equipped to apply accounting principles and practices to support strategic financial decision-making.
