Narrowing It Down

Now, take what you're learning about your interests and skills and start to see how that works at UMD.

If you haven't yet, take the Interest Inventory that the Career Center provides and see how your results match up with UMD majors and career possibilities.

The collegiate units you saw on some of your results sheets are the four collegiate units at UMD. Take some time to explore them and get an idea of where your programs of interest live.

Labovitz School of Business & Economics (LSBE)

LSBE teaches students to think critically and analytically - to question the answers as much as they answer the questions. We push them. We prepare them. Our graduates are leaders in business, management, marketing, finance, accounting, management information sciences, and economics.

LSBE is unique because all students enter with a pre-major status. Students work with their academic advisor in deciding on a major program of study while completing the campus liberal education program and the pre-major requirements.

Swenson College of Science & Engineering (SCSE)

At Swenson College, we educate undergraduate and graduate students in the natural sciences, mathematical sciences, engineering, technology, and interdisciplinary work branching into these fields. SCSE has all the resources of a larger research university but the student-centric focus and friendly atmosphere of a smaller school.

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS formerly CLA)

Embracing cultural diversity, social justice, and sustainability and the arts, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences nurtures the human capacity to learn from the past, understand the present, and shape the future. At the intersection of social science and the humanities, CAHSS prepares students for creative leadership and the complex challenges of global citizenship.

College of Education and Human Service Professions (CEHSP)

In the College of Education and Human Service Professions, we utilize our diverse intellectual strengths to provide an education of enduring value for our students' professional, personal, and civic lives. We engage with UMD and broader communities through our research, teaching, learning, and commitment to the advancement of the human service professions.

Now, use some strategies based on what you know and where you now are in the exploration process...
