About This Program
Mathematics is the abstract science of numbers, quantity and space. It may be studied in its own right (pure mathematics), or as it is applied to other disciplines such as physics and engineering (applied mathematics).
The program develops competence in mathematical techniques and sharpens mathematical insight. Mathematics is fundamental to solving problems in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, business, engineering, and technology.

Scholarships
Each year, the Swenson College of Science and Engineering awards over $1 million in scholarships. These scholarships range from $1000 to full tuition. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics also has scholarships specifically for mathematics and statistics students.
