About this Program
The Special Education minor prepares you to lead with inclusion and make a meaningful impact in schools and communities.
Through engaging coursework, you build a strong foundation in disability studies, inclusive teaching strategies, and essential laws like IDEA and ADA. The program explores the experiences of diverse learners and examines how systems, structures, and supports shape educational outcomes.
Whether paired with majors in education, psychology, social work, communication sciences and disorders, or related fields, this minor equips you with practical tools and a deeper understanding of how to advance equity and accessibility.
While the minor alone does not lead to licensure in Minnesota, the coursework can be applied toward a special education teaching license and opens doors to future opportunities in the field.
