About This Program

Do you thrive in collaborative environments? Are you driven to launch your own business or bring innovative thinking to an existing one? If so, the Entrepreneurship major may be a great fit for you. This program helps you develop essential entrepreneurial capabilities, including idea generation, opportunity recognition, resource acquisition, and entrepreneurial management.

Program Highlights

  • The Entrepreneurship B.B.A. is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)  
  • Students organize or participate in the annual UMD Entrepreneurship Conference or pitch your ideas in a “Shark Tank”-style competition  
  • Learn from award-winning Management Department faculty  
  • Develop entrepreneurial skills like forming teams, building business models, and assessing the feasibility of new ventures or initiatives  
  • Apply entrepreneurial planning strategies to real-world opportunities and build an entrepreneurial mindset that benefits any career path

Research & Experiential Learning

  • The Entrepreneurship Club, which hosts local and regional entrepreneurs to share insights and advice  
  • Organization of the Entrepreneurship Conference, a major annual networking and learning event  
  • Engagement with professionals during LSBE Company Days  
  • Access to additional business-related clubs open to all LSBE students  
  • The Student Professional Engagement Program (PEP), which exposes you to co-curricular content and soft skills development

Student Internships

LSBE offers an in-house internship program led by a dedicated director who oversees more than 200 internships annually. The director works with both you and employers to ensure valuable, real-world experiences.

Students regularly secure internships at top companies, including: 3M, Cintas, Google, Hormel, Fastenal, Land O’Lakes, Minnesota Vikings, Target, UnitedHealth Group, Sherwin-Williams, Taylor Corporation, and SPS Commerce—as well as school-year and remote internships in the Duluth area.

Scholarships

The Economics Department offers five unique scholarships for declared economics majors. In addition, all economics students are eligible to apply for LSBE-wide scholarships, which include over 150 awards.
