About This Program

The Music Minor offers a way for you to stay connected to your passion while pursuing another academic path. Our mission is to give you a strong musical foundation through a flexible and enriching program that fits alongside your primary area of study.

You’ll learn to develop core musical skills and expand your creative and analytical abilities; read, understand, and analyze music through fundamental theory and ear training; improve your technical ability and musical expression on your primary instrument or voice; explore music’s cultural, historical, and artistic context; and participate in ensemble performance and collaborative music-making.

This minor is a great fit if you’re looking to continue growing as a musician while working toward a different major. You’ll have access to many of the same opportunities as music majors, including participation in outstanding ensembles like Concert Chorale, Concert Band, Jazz Ensembles, and various Chamber groups.

Rehearsals and performances take place in the renowned Weber Music Hall, giving you the chance to perform in a beautiful, acoustically excellent space.
